To find IP address of local machine in linux

Code:
ifconfig

This command will give you local machine IP address of eth LAN.
This will give default Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection IP's address.

ifconfig comes with lot of options which basically use to flush dns or release
or for renew ips

You can check with detailed option of ifconfig

Code:
ifconfig -a

this will show you IP address of computer with details of DNS, Default gateway, physical address, dhcp all information bind with network card will display and all network card adapter which is connected in your computer will display along with wireless and ethernet information

I am not avail to check linux all information i have checked windows ipconfig options which are
Quote:

ipconfig [/? | /all | /renew [adapter] | /release [adapter] |
/flushdns | /displaydns | /registerdns |
/showclassid adapter |
/setclassid adapter [classid] ]

e.g

use ipconfig to ifconfig

Quote:
man ifconfig

Quote:
ifconfig -renew
