Hi
I am using federa operating system 7 on same computer where i have installed windows Xp. This windows xp is installed on NTFS partition. One drive i also made for sharing comman data. so i made also it as in NTFS partition. Now i want to access this drive on linux, so i am using mount command. But when i use this command, it is giving error of NTFS. I am using vfat option but it is not mounting. I am trying with ntfs option again it fails to mount. What i have to do for mounting NTFS partition on linux

To read NTFS partition on linux you required ntfs-3g RPM installed on your machine. Check it first ntfs-3g is installed on your linux machine. I hope ntfs-3g is not installed in your computer. If not installed download it from RPM provider website search ntfs-3g RPM and install this on your machine and then try for mounting NTFS partition

By default ntfs RPM is not installed in linux. You can download and install from http://www.ntfs-3g.org/

After installation of NTFS partition rpm, can run command

Quote:
mount -t ntfs-3g /dev/sda1 /mnt/windows

It can read and write into Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows 2000 and Windows Vista file systems.

To permanently mount NTFS partition in Linux you can make entry in fstab
file in /etc/fstab

Quote:
/dev/sda1 /mnt/cDrive ntfs-3g defaults 0 0

Check if using sata hard disk or Ide and hardware device about sda1 or something
