I want to take backup of mysql database and restore to another database server this backup. How can i take backup of mysql database

Backup of MySql database and restore MySql database

Backup of mysql can be taken by

1.Web based backup http://www.phpmyadmin.net this is php based admin panel for Mysql admin. phpMyAdmin is a free software tool written in php.
Most easy way to take backup and restore backup.

2. Mysql provides software tools mysql admin MySQL Administrator
http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/gui-tools/5.0.html
This desktop application software and fastest way to take backup and restore mysql. MySQL Query Browser also provide query browser to execute sql queries, this is important tools from mysql.

3. Third party sql tools, that also provide option to take backup and restore backup to database.
http://www.webyog.com/en/
MySQL DBA and take backup and restore backup
MONyog product by webyog
MySQL manager and admin tool by webyog is more features
but you have to pay for this features.

Solutions for MySQL from http://www.quest.com/mysql/

Toad for MySQL http://www.quest.com/toad-for-mysql/
this can monitor and check performance of mysql server with backup and restore.

4. Manual Backup and Restore

a. Take Backup and restore from Remote system
b. Take Backup and restore from Local machine

Quote:
mysqldump -u root [-h hostname] [databaseName] [tablesName] > fileNameWithPath


e.g with whole database
Quote:
C:\>mysqldump -u root project > backup.sql


Remote Backup with hostname
Quote:

C:\>mysqldump -u root -h 192.168.1.3 project > backup.sql


Backup with table name
Quote:

C:\>mysqldump -u root project feedback > backup.sql



Restore database

Quote:

C:\>mysql -u root
Welcome to the MySQL monitor. Commands end with ; or \g.
Your MySQL connection id is 3 to server version: 3.23.58-nt

Type 'help;' or '\h' for help. Type '\c' to clear the buffer.

mysql>use project;
